KISCA Music Event : Jerry Santos & Kamuela Kimokeo

Jerry Santos has been a familiar presence on the Hawai’i music scene for over five decades. Born and raised on the windward side of O’ahu, Jerry is a graduate of The Kamehameha Schools and attended the University of Hawai’i and Kapi’olani community College.

His work has been recognized by the Hawai’i musical community with numerous Na Hökü Hanohano awards. In 2008 he was recognized by the Council of Hawaiian Civic Clubs for his commitment to Hawaiian Culture through music with a Distinguished Kama’aina Award. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts in 2008 and was inducted into the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

Kamuela Kimokeo is a musician and educator. He is the Director of the Hawaii Music Institute at Windward Community College where he teaches classes from “ukulele to music theory and history. He is the driving force behind the creation of the Hawaiian Music Certificate Kaʻohekani. He started playing music professionally in Waikiki with his dad when he was 14 years old. He has toured with the likes of Jerry Santos, Amy Hanaiali‘i, and Raiatea Helm. In 2009 he performed for the President of Tahiti and in 2013 he was a featured guitarist at Barrack Obama’s inaugural ball in Washington DC. As a recording artist he has been a part of Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winning albums with his group Hiʻikua, Napua Greig, and Raiatea Helm.

Big Island Abalone operates an ethically raised, solar-powered abalone farm on the Kona coast of Hawai’i island. Kona abalone are raised in pristine, deep seawater and are high in nutritional value, including protein and collagen.

Our Gratin of Big Island Abalone is served with a house-made warm baguette and can be enjoyed at Plumeria Beach House.

Day 1: Fun In The Sun

  • Soak up the warm Hawaiian sunshine at our outdoor pool and hot tub. Rent a cabana for the day so you can lounge peacefully while the kids make a splash.   • After a quick lunch at Plumeria Beach House, hop on our complimentary shuttle to the Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki. From there, it’s a short walk to the Waikiki Aquarium or Honolulu Zoo where your family can spend the afternoon marveling at the creatures of the deep or meeting friendly beasts from around the world.
  • Head back to your room to freshen up and enjoy cocktails and dinner service at The Veranda. Enjoy live music from local musicians every Thursday - Saturday from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Learn more.

Day 3: Snorkel & Beach Adventure

  • Wake up bright and early to go snorkeling at the legendary Hanauma Bay. Please note that reservations must be made in advance to enter the park.
  • Return home to spend a golden afternoon on the secluded beach in front of our hotel, where the gentle waves are safe for all ages. For your convenience, we offer beach gear including snorkels and fins, bodyboards, kayaks and paddle boards.
