I am sending this message to all Kahala Colleagues and an abbreviated version will be also sent out through text message for those who are not on property. It is with a sad heart that I announce that the Kahala Hotel & Resort will temporarily suspend operations for all new reservations starting Tuesday, March 24th. All in-house guests will be given the option to stay through their scheduled check out date or depart the resort without penalty. At this time, we will plan to resume operations for guests on May 1st, 2020. This date is subject to change.
The indefinite 14 day mandatory quarantine for all guests arriving to the resort as implemented by our government is being done to help protect our Kupuna and all residents here in Hawaii. We are aware that the pandemic has escalated in our major markets (Washington and California) and that guests coming from these areas and elsewhere increases risk for exposure and spread. The government went further yesterday by asking as many people as possible to work from home and only leave the home for essential services until April 30th.
My goal is to ensure that all Kahala Colleagues are safe and protected during this time. Combined with the unprecedented down turn in our business, we have the opportunity to ensure that we do our best to abide by the government direction, but most importantly ensure the safety of you and your families.
This pandemic will pass if we all work together and do our part to stop the spread. The faster we ensure we control its spread, the faster we can open our doors, go back to work, and welcome our guests back to their home away from home, The Kahala Hotel & Resort.
I am so very proud to work with all of you and call you friends and colleagues.
E Malama Pono,
Joe
