Join us on this Hawaiian craft workshop to create your own kapa bookmark. “Ohe Kapala” is a piece of bamboo carved for printing “tapa” which is a bark cloth that has been softened through a process of soaking and beating.

Join Dolphin Quest’s Marine Mammal Specialists for a lagoonside chat about our dolphin ohana while watching them up close. Learn about critical research support, conservation efforts and innovative training.

Hala weaving is a traditional practice to make items such as baskets, hats and mats from leaves of Hala trees. Watch Keoua Nelsen expertly weave together leaves. Keoua Nelson is from Kona and comes from a long line of lauhala weavers.
Environmental & sustainability program designed with the Coral Resilience Lab at The Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology for KISCA.
Draw, Paint, Create and Get Messy!
Every Wednesday | 4:00pm-5:30pm | at KISCA room
The Kahala invites all children (ages 5 and up) to spend the afternoon creating ocean-inspired art while learning about environmental stewardship. Both guests and the kamaʻāina are welcomed to engage and learn about Hawai‘i’s natural resources through the creation. We have all the supplies that keiki need to flex their creative muscles and create one-of-a-kind masterpieces to take home.
Due to limited availability, reservations are required by 3pm on the day of program (no walk-ins). Parent/gurdian’s presence required.
