Rooms & Reservations

The reservations department has full time English and Japanese speaking staff. Please call the hotel representative number +1 (808) 369-9480. The Kahala Reservation Team Hours of Operation (Hawaii Standard Time): Monday – Friday from 7am – 5pm, Saturday – Sunday and holidays from 8am – 5pm. (Hours of Operation are subject to change without notice)

The maximum occupancy is three adults (18 and older) or two adults and two children (17 and younger) per room. All room rates include double occupancy. A 3rd adult charge is $100 per night. Additional bedding is $85 per rollaway bed daily plus taxes (maximum 1 additional bed). If you stay in a 2-bedroom suite, the maximum occupancy is 6 adults or 4 adults and 4 children.

Rates are based on one or two adults per room. The Kahala Family Plan policy offers no additional charge for children (17 and younger) when staying in the same room with the parent and utilizing existing bedding. Bedding type of one king or two double beds may be requested at time of booking but cannot be guaranteed. A complimentary baby crib can be provided in the room or suite if requested at the time of reservation. Babysitters may be arranged in advance through the Concierge at +1 (808) 739-8911.

Small dogs are allowed. The Dog program is available for $150, dogs must be under 25lbs. Sample dog waiver form required at check in (pdf).

Taxes are not included in the room or suite rate. The State of Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax is 10.25%. This, together with the 4.712% Hawaii State Excise tax and the 3.00% Oahu Transient Accommodations Tax, means that the total applied taxes for hotel accommodations will be 17.962%. The State of Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax ID for The Kahala is TA-169-879-9616-01. The General Excise tax ID is GE-169-879-9616-01. All rates and room location requests are subject to category availability.

We accept American Express, Visa, Master Card, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, checks and cash. Credit card information is required at the time of booking to reserve a room or suite.  Please see the deposit and cancellation policy for our rooms and suites for more information.

Our normal room and suite rates do not include breakfast.  All of our Signature Suites (Kahala Kai Suite, Kahala Beach Suite, Presidential and Imperial Suite) include daily breakfast for two adults. If you book a package that includes daily breakfast such as Kahala Breakfast Inclusive or the Kahala Celebrations Packages, then breakfast will be included.  Breakfast is served from 6:30am to 11:00am at Plumeria Beach House. Other breakfast options while staying at the resort include: Room Service, served in the room or on the lanai: View Room Service Menu Hoku’s Sunday Brunch: 9:00am – 1:00pm -$90 per person not including tax or gratuity

Resort Credit is can be used for anything on property that is owned and operated by The Kahala Hotel & Resort. The resort credit is not valid at the following outlets:

Disclaimer: Resort Credit can be used for shops and restaurants except Arancino and the Signature Store at Royal Hawaiian Center.

We have both inner and outer connecting rooms.  Inner connecting rooms have a door inside the room that connects to another guest room.  The outer connecting rooms have a door outside of the guest room that can be closed, creating a foyer to the two guest room doors.  The following rooms can be connected:  Scenic to Scenic Lanai, Dolphin Lanai rooms, Ocean View to Ocean View Lanai and Ocean Front to Ocean Front Lanai. Two rooms requiring connecting doors must be confirmed in advance by calling Kahala Reservations directly, a $250.00 plus tax one-time charge will be applied to guarantee the rooms. Connecting rooms guarantee subject to availability.

All the rooms and suite have Toto washlets.

In recognition of the growing preference for non-smoking accommodations by our guests The Kahala Hotel & Resort, has been designated 100% smoke free. The resort eliminated its inventory of smoking rooms and all rooms are non-smoking both in room and on the lanai (balcony).

All the guest rooms and suites offer the choice of one king size bed or two double (American full size) beds.  Bedding can be requested at the time of reservation and we will do our best to accommodate all request, however, bedding cannot be guaranteed.

We are pleased to offer complimentary high speed internet access in all our guest rooms and public areas (lobby, all dining areas, pool). The complimentary internet is good for web browsing and email. An upgrade to Premium Service good for video and games is $25 per day per device. All guest rooms and suites have LAN cable internet access as well.  The Ethernet LAN cable is located in the writing desk.  Meeting and function rooms have wired and wireless internet available. Pricing and terms will be established based on the rental agreement.  

A lanai is the Hawaiian word for patio or balcony.  The Kahala Hotel & Resort offers rooms with lanai and some with a Juliet balcony.  The lanai rooms offer a spacious balcony or approximately 116 square feet or 11 square meters furnished with a table and chairs.  

The total size is approximately 1,250 square feet or 116 square meters. The living room is about 61 square meters, the bedroom is about 48 square meters.

The approximate distance from the Kahala Kai and Kahala Beach Signature Suites is 30 feet or 9 meters. There is a nice lawn area (Koko Head Lawn) directly in front of the suites and then the white sandy beach.

Early check-in can be requested and provided on availability. If you would like to guarantee early check in, then you need to reserve the room a day early.

If you arrive before the check-in time, our bell staff will hold your luggage, and deliver to your room when it is ready. For your comfort, The Kahala Hospitality Suite is available for registered guests at any time who wish to use the lounge prior to checking in or after checking out of their rooms or suites. The Suite provides plush and comfortable lounge chairs and sofa seating for couples and families and light refreshments. There are two ‘private rooms’ with a loveseat for relaxation and quiet as well as a large shower and bathroom facility. A flat screen television as well as magazines and newspapers keep our guests in tune with international news of the day. A private lanai features canopied daybeds which are perfect for catching up with your reading.
The Hospitality Suite is staffed from 8:00am – 5pm daily. Japanese speaking staff available. For assistance outside these hours, please see the Front Desk for an Assistant Manager for access to computers and other services.

The Resort Facilities

Yes, the resorts Business Center operates 24 hours a day seven days a week for your convenience and is located on the First Floor of the Tower Wing. It is part of our Hospitality Suite services. It is staffed from 8:00am – 5pm daily.  The business center has a PC and Mac that can be used for 60 minutes complimentary – per guest room, per day. $15.00 each additional half hour or fraction thereof $240.00 per day, $2.00 per laser jet printed page. The Kahala Hotel & Resort does offer a laundry service for our guests.  The laundry can be picked up from your room or suite by 9:00am for same day service.  It will be delivered to your room at the end of the day. We offer dry cleaning and pressing services as well. The Kahala Hotel & Resort does not have a launderette on site.

By state law in Hawaii, all beaches are public.  Due to the location of the resort at the end of Kahala Avenue in a high-end residential district, the beach at The Kahala tends to be secluded and away from the crowds. Beach activities can be viewed here.

Smoking bans by the state of Hawaii took effect on January 1st, 2014 making it illegal to have a cigarette at all Honolulu beaches, parks, pools, and athletic facilities. Fines will be imposed on violators. The Kahala Hotel & Resort has posted signs for designated outdoor smoking areas, please ask our staff if you are not sure where to find the designated smoking areas.

Effective November 16, 2006 smoking is prohibited in all enclosed or partially enclosed areas open to the public in order to ensure a consistent level of basic protections statewide from exposure to secondhand smoke. The term “enclosed or partially enclosed” is defined under the law as any space closed in by a roof or overhang and at least two walls, including, but not limited to, restrooms, lobbies, reception areas, hallways, interior courtyards, patios, covered walkways, bars, hotel and motel rooms, lanais, restaurants, retail service establishments and retail stores. Hotels and motels may designate up to 20 percent of rooms as smoking allowed. Rooms must be on the same floor, contiguous and smoke must not infiltrate into smoke-free areas.

Babysitters may be arranged in advance through the Concierge at +1 (808) 739-8911 or with a Front Office Manager at +1 (808) 739-8602. Japanese and other foreign language speakers can be requested. Please contact the concierge for current rates. *4-hour minimum to reserve, special rates apply on holidays.

If you arrive early but are scheduled to check-in later in the day, you can take advantage of all the facilities of the resort, including the pool and fitness center even before check-in. We also provide a Hospitality Suite on the 1st floor.

If you lost an item, please fill out the lost and found form and our staff will do their best to locate and return. We cannot guarantee items will be found or returned.

Pool and Beach rentals available from 8:00am – 5:30pm. Our pool is a popular place to soak up the sun. You’ll find everything you need to enjoy the Hawaiian sun at the Pool Desk, from sunscreen and protective eye wear, to hats. We also have a full range of magazines for your entertainment. It’s also the place to find out about the variety of water sports available. Kahala logo items such as T shirts, bags and visors are also available. Order your beverages and snacks when you feel thirsty or hungry.

The resort has a classic oval shaped pool, a children’s pool and a hot tub/Jacuzzi. The pool size 24.37m x 10.36m, depth is be 91.4cm ~ 137cm. The children’s pool size 3.35m x 6m, depth is 45.72cm.

The resort has a retail sundry store called “The Kahala Boutique.” It is located on the lobby level. At the Kahala Boutique you’ll find a large selection of high quality gift items, souvenirs, apparel, logo and sundry items to enhance your stay and get into the true spirit of the islands. From finding your favorite novel to that special gift of Aloha, let our friendly staff assist you with all your needs when you are at the hotel. There are many nearby golf courses to enjoy (a private course – 5mins, public courses – 30mins, and resort courses – 60mins) from the resort. Our concierge staff will be happy to arrange tee-times for you during your stay. For more information abour golf, please click here.

We have complimentary use of wheelchairs while at the resort.  If needed outside the resort, rentals can be arranged by our concierge for an additional fee.

The resort offers complimentary bicycle rental (rental arranged by concierge).

Runners and joggers can choose from a variety of routes using our Kahala Running and/or Jogging Map. The resort offers complimentary bottled water for runners.

Valet parking now includes Tesla Superchargers.  Guest Services will park and charge your Tesla, while dining or shopping at the resort, complimentary valet with a minimum $50 spend receipt.  Separate Tesla charging fees will apply. The Kahala Hotel & Resort also offers Blink Charging Stations in self parking structure so you can charge your electric vehicle (EV). You can charge your EV overnight, before the drive home, while attending a meeting or event at the resort, or whenever you need it. An additional fee will apply.

Transportation and Location

Airport Taxi’s are available outside baggage claim for transportation to The Kahala Hotel & Resort for approximately $45 one way (exact fare can vary depending on traffic and current rates). Kahala Kai, the exclusive resort taxi, can be reserved for transportation to the airport by contacting the Bell Desk at +1 (808) 369-9480.  The resort is approximately 13 miles from the airport and the average travel time is 30 to 40 minutes.

It takes approximately 10 minutes to 15 minutes to drive from the resort to Waikiki. If you take a taxi from the resort the fare is approximately $15-$20.

The Honolulu city bus (The Bus) from Waikiki to Kahala is # 22 bus from the bus stop that is between Kalakaua Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue, and get off in front to bend from Kahala Avenue to Pueo Street. From there from walk straight on Kahala Avenue about 15 minutes to the resort. With regard to bus timetables, route guidance, please refer to the web site of TheBus: http://www.thebus.org
