Luxury Travel in Oahu, Hawaii

What do Queen Elizabeth II and Janet Jackson have in common? Aside from their royal monikers, the Queen of England and the Queen of Pop have both been guests at The Kahala Resort.

Since opening our doors in January 1964, our resort has been the go-to celebrity hideaway for the rich and famous visitors of Oahu. It’s no surprise that stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Sammy Davis Jr., Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra felt at home here. With a construction cost of $12 million, The Kahala Resort was the first major resort to feature air-conditioning in every room. But, it was the luxury touches that really made the resort stand out. Over 100 palm trees, an 800-foot beach, 3 acres of Thai-teak parquet floors and 28,000 pieces of Italian glass in the lobby chandeliers add up to one world-class resort.

Throughout our five-decade history, we have continued to innovate and renovate in order to appeal to distinguished world travelers. In 1981 we launched the Plumeria Beach House open-air restaurant and 2000 saw the grand opening of The Veranda. 2003 brought perhaps the most treasured addition, with the opening of the award-winning Kahala Spa.

Though all the upgrades and additions, the world’s most notable names continued to flock to The Kahala Resort. We have hosted the Dali Lama, world leaders from around the globe, many members of the British royal family and every sitting US President from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush.

So what is it that calls to today’s stars, including Angelina Jolie and Justin Timberlake? One major reason is our selection of suites and signature suites. Our Tower, Ocean Front and Scenic Ocean View suites all offer unparalleled views of the island of the Pacific Ocean and more amenities than you could imagine. Lei greetings, a state-of-the-art Fitness & Energy Center, 40-inch flat screen televisions, and bicycle rentals barely begin to scratch the surface of what is in store. And, if that isn’t enough, our four Signature Suites offer grand accommodations and the utmost privacy.

But, at The Kahala Resort we are more than fantastic rooms. From the moment you step onto our property, your stay is the experience of a lifetime. From candle-lit dinners and complimentary surfing lessons, we help you create spectacular moments. Of course, no luxurious stay is complete without a visit with the family of Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins that call our private lagoon home.

Who will you rub elbows with during your stay? A beach chair next to the hottest screen star? A swim with Liho the dolphin? Dinner with your own family of VIPs? Whatever and whoever, every moment will be steeped in luxury and the Aloha spirit. It’s all waiting for you.
