The Kahala Hotel & Resort announced today that Gerald Glennon has joined as general manager of the award-winning luxury property. Glennon, a respected leader in the hospitality industry, will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, financial performance and unique guest experience of the landmark resort.
Prior to joining The Kahala, Glennon was director emeritus and senior advisor for The Modern Honolulu, where he worked with the executive team to reposition the hotel and instill a luxury-level service culture. He also served as general manager of Halekulani, where he spent 12 years directing operations, managing renovations and developing signature guest experiences that enhanced the resort’s bottom-line performance.
“Gerald is widely regarded as a consummate hospitality executive with a track record for reimagining luxury resorts,” said Duke Ueda, vice president of ResortTrust Hawaii, owner of The Kahala Hotel & Resort. “His arrival signals a new era in The Kahala’s legacy of gracious hospitality.”
“The Kahala is a special resort for locals and visitors alike and I look forward to working closely with the team to build upon the reputation of this iconic property,” said Glennon. “While The Kahala has a long history of serving presidents, celebrities and dignitaries, I believe the best is yet to come.”
Glennon holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Denver, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a marketing emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado. He is an executive board member of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, chairman of the Oahu Visitors Bureau, and a board member of the Hawaii Tourism and Lodging Association, the Waikiki Improvement Association, SKAL Hawaii and the Hawaii Culinary Education Foundation.
The legendary Kahala Hotel & Resort is an oceanfront, destination luxury property known for its gracious Hawaiian hospitality. Located just minutes from Waikīkī, The Kahala offers an exclusive ambiance of a neighbor island experience.
The Kahala has been Honolulu's social address for weddings and gatherings since its opening in 1964. The Kahala is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and Preferred Hotels & Resorts.
The resort is home to The Kahala Spa, lush tropical gardens and a natural ocean-water lagoon with the hotel’s own resident dolphins cared for by Dolphin Quest. The Kahala also has five restaurants: Plumeria Beach House, Seaside Grill, The Veranda, Arancino and the award-winning Hoku’s restaurant.
