The state of the Hawaii is one of the most recent to be annexed into the United States. Before Hawaii became the place for vacationers to visit the beach and get a massage, it was a country of its own.

“While showcasing the aloha spirit, The Kahala Hotel & Resort has served as a luxury destination here in Hawai‘i for the past 50 years. From the Dalai Lama and Frank Sinatra to every U.S. president since Lyndon Johnson, the resort’s historical Guidebook is a veritable ‘who’s who’ of dignitaries and celebrities that rivals even the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

Lomi Lomi, which means to 'rub' or 'massage in the Hawaiian language, is a massage technique that provides mental and physical relaxation. Based on the Hawaiian belief, Huna, which states wellness is dependent on the harmonious balance of both the mind and the body. The purpose of Lomi Lomi is to do away with both emotional and physical stress. This type of massage doesn't really have any unique strokes. No two Lomi Lomi massages will be the same.

Hawaii has such an array of activities to choose from. One could not fit them all into a typical one- or two-week vacation. Maybe you don’t want to. Maybe sitting poolside at one of the many luxury hotels in Waikiki, or enjoying a bed and breakfast somewhere on the North Shore is just what the doctor ordered. Basking poolside or in the warm sand at one of the many beautiful beaches is quite relaxing, and you may have no urge to do anything else. - By Hawaii Active

The Legend Inspires. The Promise Continues. Welcoming guests since 1964

The Kahala Hotel’s grand opening January 22, 1964 heralded a new era of modern luxurious hospitality in the Hawaiian Islands. Its spacious, well-appointed rooms commanded the then-stunning price of $32.50 per day. The Kahala was the very first Hawaiian hotel to have air conditioning, his-and-her vanities, and walk-in closets. One VIP guest described his room as a “living room with a bed.” Over the years many things have changed, but The Kahala’s unwavering commitment to Aloha has remained the same.
