Keiki Club for Kids

Little Adventurers

‘Keiki’ is the Hawaiian word for child and forms the name of a very special club at The Kahala. Endless fun and play await at the Keiki Club for kids between the ages of 5 to 12 years as they discover more about our beautiful islands, make friends and enjoy the sunshine all while Mom and Dad relax and enjoy being at The Kahala.

Sense of place

The Keiki Club offers a well-rounded schedule of outdoor and indoor experiences for our young guests that are unique to Hawaii.

Great Outdoors

Through daily themed activities, keiki will gain a deeper understanding of Hawaiian culture, history, environment and traditions while creating lasting memories.

Hours of Operation

Seven (7) days a week, from Monday through Sunday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Call the concierge at (808) 739.8911 or email concierge@kahalaresort.com to make a booking.

General Activities 

Activities are offered while children are in Keiki Club before or after the main activity. Activities are dependent on group size, ages of children, interests or weather.

Weekly Schedule

Monday (Po‘akahi)

Scoop Net Fishing: We're off to Kahala Beach in search of fish, crabs, shrimp and sea cucumbers. If the tide is right, we may even enjoy a reef walk!

Seashell Picture Frames: Let’s hit the sand on a hunt for Hawaiian seashells to make a one-of-a-kind souvenir.

Tuesday (Po‘alua)

Kite Making and Flying: Decorate and assemble your very own sled kite and see them take flight in the Hawaiian sky!
12:00pm – 1:00pm   Lunch
Send Aloha to a Friend: What does “aloha” mean to the people of Hawaii? Let’s create a postcard to send aloha to someone special.

Wednesday (Po‘akolu)

Bamboo Pole Fishing: Let’s go fishing! We’ll drop our lines to catch a kupipi, mamo or aholehole.
12:00pm – 1:00pm   Lunch
Gyotaku (Fish Printing) - We’ll paint fish stamps to create prints called gyotaku, a technique originally used by Japanese fishermen to record the sizes of their catch.

Thursday (Po‘aha)

Volcanoes in the Sand: Let’s learn about shield volcanoes and how they make up the Hawaiian Islands. Then we’ll head to the beach to build a sand volcano that erupts red lava!

Search for Ocean Treasures: Join in a search for natural treasures that wash up onto sandy Kahala Beach.

Friday (Po‘alima)

Full Day Excursion
*Only full day excursion is available on Friday.

Honolulu Zoo Excursion: We’re taking a trip to the Honolulu Zoo to visit birds, reptiles, primates and an African Savanna. The Keiki Zoo offers close encounters with friendly farm animals.

Waikiki Aquarium: Let’s learn about the Pacific marine life, from living corals to ocean drifting jellies to sharks and the favorite Hawaiian monk seals.

Saturday (Po‘aono)

Jr. Waterman Activity with Hans Hedemann Surf School: Surf’s up and it’s time for our Jr. Waterman Activity, including an orientation and a near-shore introduction to surfing, standup paddle-boarding and outrigger canoeing.

Lei Making and Hula: String a brightly colored lei to wear as we learn a simple hula. Let’s learn how lei express love and how Hawaiians used hula to tell a story.

Sunday (Lapule)

Hunt for Sand Crabs: With quiet feet and quick nets, let’s catch ohiki (ghost crabs) that scurry along Kahala beach.

Lauhala Bookmark Craft : Weaving was a highly developed skill that Hawaiians used to make baskets and mats. Learn to weave your very own bookmark to take home as a memory of your visit to The Kahala Keiki Club.

Keiki Club Program Information

Who can participate?
Children, ages 5 – 12 years

Hours of Operation
Seven (7) days a week, from Monday through Sunday
9:00am – 4:00pm, daily
We will offer additional evening sessions seasonally from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, includes dinner

Program Times
Full and Half Day Programs available Sat–Thurs Only
Full Day Excursion is available on Friday
Full Day: 9:00am – 4:00pm, includes lunch
Half Day: 9:00am – 1:00pm or 12 noon – 4:00pm, includes lunch

Keiki Program Cost
Day: $125/day
Half-Day: $100/day
Excursion Day: $150/day, includes admission (transportation to be arranged by hotel)
Evening: $130.00/day (seasonal program)

Staff Qualifications
Keiki Club staff are trained childcare professionals, certified in First Aid and Infant/Child CPR

Staff-to-Child Ratio
1 staff per 8 children

Important Information

  • Parents may sign up for the Keiki Club by calling the concierge at +1 (808) 739.8911 or email inquiries to concierge@kahalaresort.com.
  • Parents/Guardians must accompany their children to and from the program.
  • Registration forms and waivers must be filled out and signed before a child may participate.
  • Please have children dress in comfortable clothing and footwear for the day and pack swimsuit, sunscreen and a change of clothes. Pool/beach swimming when available.
  • Activities are based on voluntary participation and subject to change depending on group size, ages, interests or weather.
  • Parents are responsible for picking up child immediately if child becomes sick.

Babysitters may be arranged in advance through the Concierge at (808) 739.8911. Japanese and other foreign language speakers can be requested. Please contact the concierge for current rates. *4-hour minimum to reserve, special rates apply on holidays.
