It’s the Year of the Snake, according to Chinese folklore, and The Kahala is rolling out the red lanterns, lion dancers, and fortune tellers for Plumeria Beach Houses’s Year of the Snake dinner buffet February 8 and 9, 2013, from 5:30 until 10 p.m. Adult price is $70 (tax and gratuity not included), and children (4-12) are $30. Reservations are suggested and may be made by calling (808) 739-8760; or E-mailing restaurants@kahalaresort.com.
The dinner buffet will feature an Asian theme with its usual bounty of salads, seafoods, appetizers, and entrees, plus specialty stations such as the wok stir fry, lucky noodles bar, Chinese candy bar, and roasted meats carving station. The Plumeria Beach House staff is decorating the oceanfront venue with festive Chinese lanterns and traditional Chinese flowers for the occasion.
Entertainment throughout the evening until 9:30 p.m. will include a Chinese fortune teller, and Chinese moon harp player. Lion Dancers will snake their way through the dining room beginning at about 7 p.m., so be sure to bring money to put in your Red Pocket to feed the Lion for good luck in 2013.
Chinese New Year (also called Lunar New Year) is a time to welcome longevity, wealth, and prosperity and to eliminate negative “chi” from the past. In Chinese tradition, each year is dedicated to a specific animal. The Snake is welcomed back in 2013 after the Year of the Dragon (2012). Each of the animals is thought to bestow their characteristics to the people born in their year. Snake people represent the symbol of wisdom. They are intelligent and wise, and are usually regarded as great thinkers.
Make reservations for Plumeria Beach House’s Year of the Snake dinner buffet now at (808) 739-8760; or by E-mail at restaurants@kahalaresort.com. Plumeria Beach House’s flexible seating arrangements make it easy for family groups large and small to dine together. Enjoy the oceanfront location and indoor-outdoor seating options, too.
