FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 5, 2011
What was once really, really good…just got a whole lot better. The Kahala’s new weekend seafood buffet, Bounty of the Seven Seas: A League of Its Own, will take you on a dining adventure to exotic new ports of call each week. You won’t find better value or higher quality, (or even a better view), when it comes to Friday and Saturday night dining ocean-side in the Plumeria Beach House.
Beginning August 12th an 13th, The Kahala adds new finesse and lots of adventurous eating on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:30 until 10 p.m. Bounty of the Seven Seas is a creative spin on an old tradition, taking The Kahala’s legendary all-you-can-eat seafood buffet to ever new culinary heights. Featuring changing themes each week highlighting food traditions from ports of call from around the world, The Kahala kicks it up a notch by adding spice, variety, and all new menu items.
Only the Executive Chef Wayne Hirabayashi knows what culinary delights he has in store for diners at Plumeria Beach House. With a new port of call featured each week, the cooking stations (where chefs display their various culinary talents while hungry diners watch) will include a variety of new menu items showcasing the cooking traditions of the world. It might be Hong Kong one week, India the next and European delights the week after. What you can count on is that every weekend will be something different, something fresh and new and tantalizingly delicious to try. The first port of call on August 12th and 13th features the rich and flavorful cuisine of Portugal.
Look for some extra flair in the dining experience at the dessert stations, too – chefs will fire off the caramelized topping of your crème brûlée right in front of your very eyes, or hand scoop some homemade ice cream for a sundae you dress with your choice of toppings right on the spot. It’s fun (especially for the kids) and it’s fabulously creative for the crew. And when the chef is having fun, the whole restaurant eats happy!
Of course all your favorite seafood specialties, from the raw New Zealand oysters on the half shell, to the house-made fresh poke, to piles of spiced cooked shrimp with their array of tasty dipping sauces will also be on the menu on Friday and Saturday nights. There’s no skimping on the salad bar or fresh entrees and bountiful dessert selections.
Bounty of the Seven Seas is priced at $55 per person (children 4-12 are only $31) and served only on Friday and Saturday nights at the Plumeria Beach House. Reserve a table for 2 or 20 by calling (808) 739-8760 or email restaurants@kahalaresort.com. Plumeria Beach House has special seating areas for larger groups as well as al fresco seaside dining under the stars overlooking one of the loveliest moonlit ocean breaks on Oahu. Call ahead or check the website www.kahalaresort.com if you’d like to know the Port of Call for the evening – or, relax and enjoy the surprise each weekend night. Chef Hirabayashi doesn’t know how to do “dull” and he never met an oyster he didn’t love….raw…on the half shell…smothered in zippy sauces and lemony garnishes.
Bounty of the Seven Seas is Food and Beverage Director Stuart Kotake’s creative new twist on adventurous world dining culturally rewarding cuisine. And you won’t even need a passport!
