Honolulu, Hawaii, January 21th, 2009: The Kahala Hotel & Resort celebrated its 45th anniversary this week by signing a reservations and marketing representation agreement with another legendary luxury name in the international hotel segment, Okura Hotels & Resorts of Japan.
The iconic Hawaiian resort, which became an independent hotel managed by Landmark Hotels, Inc. in March 2006, has also just completed a US$50 million renovation of its 338 rooms and suites, as well as its banquet rooms, Spa and other public areas.
Under the agreement, The Okura’s reservations system will now be able to book The Kahala through its voice call center in Tokyo, servicing all of Japan in real time for The Kahala’s elite Japan-based clientele. The Kahala will also be featured as its exclusive Hawaii property on Okura’s website in English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, www.okura.com, which also caters to the Group’s international frequent guest database. Okura’s corporate program will also feature special rates at The Kahala.
Charles M. Sweeney, Chairman of Trinity Investments, LLC and of Kahala Hotel Investors, LLC, is in Tokyo for the contract signing. Toshihiro Ogita, President and Chief Operating Officer, Hotel Okura Company Limited, also spoke about the association of the two iconic hotel names. Starting from February 1st, 2009, agents at Okura’s corporate reservations office in Tokyo will answer The Kahala’s toll free reservations number in Japan: 0120-528013. Reservations can also be made online in Japanese and English, on okura.com. The Kahala also maintains a Japanese language booking engine on its own website www.kahalaresort.com.
In celebration of The Kahala Hotel & Resort as a new OHR member, the following campaign will be implemented in Japan.
