As part of the month-long celebration of Prince Kuhio, the annual Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana`ole Commemorative Parade will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009 through Waikiki. The parade will begin at Saratoga Road and Kalakaua Avenue, and proceed down Kalakaua Avenue to Kapi`olani Park. Units will include Hawaiian Civic Clubs, bands, hula dancers, and various Native Hawaiian organizations. There will be four parade announcer stations where narratives on each unit will be broadcast for parade watchers. Units will pause at the statue of Prince Kuhio to offer ho`okupu (gifts) in his honor. Follow the parade down to Kapi`olani Park where a free Moonlight Concert will be held after the parade.
