Dining , Home for the Holidays at Kahala , Kama'aina Specials No Comments »

The Kahala Hotel’s Plumeria Beach House holiday buffets put the “bountiful” in Thanksgiving. Served oceanside with stunning views of the blue Pacific, you can pick either outdoor al fresco dining or inside in the more protected main dining area. For starters, enjoy a variety of salads including roasted mushroom and artichoke salad, pasta salad with salami, provolone, and pesto, fresh fruit salad, and marinated beets with citrus vinaigrette. The appetizers featured include a selection of fresh poke with ahi, mussels, and octopus and a raw bar with fresh oysters on the half shell and lomi lomi salmon. Other fresh seafood includes green lip mussels, shrimp cocktail, and an assortment of fresh-made sushi. Enjoy Portuguese and link sausages, bacon, smoked salmon creamed spinach benedict, made-to-order omelets, and malted waffles. At the carving station find traditional roast turkey with herb gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing and prime rib of beef au jus with horseradish cream. Chef Specialties include steamed snow crab with garlic white wine butter, garlic-herb roasted autumn vegetables, and sautéed fresh island catch with artichoke and mushrooms. No brunch is complete with a trip to the Kahala French toast bar where you’ll find a choice of fresh fruit compotes, flavored syrups, chocolate chips, whipped cream, macadamia nuts, and milk chocolate Bailey’s ganache. If you’ve any room for dessert, enjoy seasonal favorites such as pumpkin pie, pineapple brown butter tart, dulce de leche cake, and honey financiers along with Kahala bread pudding, blondies and brownies and other assorted sweet temptations. Happy Thanksgiving!

Enjoying Afternoon Tea at The Veranda

50 Ways to Love Kahala , Dining , Entertainment at The Veranda No Comments »

The Kahala joined the ranks of one of the world’s great resorts when it opened in 1964. The late 60’s were a time of American ingenuity - in music, in automobiles and entertainment. During the first decade of The Kahala,
Hollywood celebrities and royalty came to stay. Visit our lobby Wall of Fame to catch a glimpse of The Kahala Who’s Who through the years and celebrate with us the legend that is The Kahala.

The Veranda is the perfect place to enjoy your Afternoon Tea. Whether young or old, High Tea is always an island favorit.  Guests will be spoiled for choice with treats such as  freshly baked scones served with clotted cream, and preservesl, a selection of four savories, and four sweets. Your choices of savories are island inspired, asian flair, european elegance and heartier selections.  And in celebration of our Golden Jubilee, we have four decadent desserts.  Each carefully chosen for you.

The Blue Hawaii Macaroon
Elvis would have loved our blue macaroon
with orange and curacao ganache filling.

The Wili Wili Bar
Chef Michael’s delightful shortbread crust
with coconut, chocolate chip, and
marshmallow topping, straight from one
of our Hawaiian auntie’s recipe book.

The Mai Tai Tart
The Mad Men would have loved this one!
Almond frangipane tart with
fresh pineapple and dark rum glaze.

The Kahala Coconut Cake
We dug deep into our culinary archives
to revive this classic chiffon cake with
coconut pastry cream and whipped cream
