Hula
'Hula is the language of the heart and therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people'
David (Kâwika) La’amea Kalakâua, King of Hawai’i, 1874 – 1891

The dance known as the hula was developed in the Hawaiian Islands by the original Polynesian settlers, who migrated to the islands by outrigger canoes in the fifth century. The term hula refers to the graceful movement and gestures performed to prayers, chants or love songs.

Lei Making
In Hawaii, special occasions are accented by the giving and wearing of the lei. It has become a symbol of friendship, love, best wishes, welcome and farewell. Throughout the history of ancient Hawai’i, men and women wore bone, shell, feather, hair, and stone garlands to beautify and distinguish themselves from others. They also used decorative flowers, seeds and fruits to create this symbol of affection.
Thursdays: 9am

Ukulele
This four-string instrument is fun for even the littlest musicians. The name ukulele translates to 'the jumping flea' which refers to the movements of the fingers dancing on the fingerboard.
